Getting to the venue

The talks will be held at the amphitheatre of the FFCUL (Portuguese acronym standing for Foundation of the Faculty of Science of Lisbon University). In the map below, FFCUL is highlighted with a black box. It is located on the third floor of building C1 (you will see these names big at the top of each building). Note the floor you enter is already the second one. Indications will be placed throughout the campus to guide you to the amphitheatre.

The splinter-group discussions will happen on Thursday afternoon in three rooms in building C8: 8.2.03, 8.2.11, 8.2.14. Self-organised groups are welcomed to contact the organizers to use these rooms.

1) By metro - the closest metro stations are Campo Grande (green and yellow lines) and Cidade Universitaria (yellow line). From those, walk to the venue following the map below. The boxes around Metro Stations indicate the respective metro-line colours.

This link provides the full metro network diagram, and this lets you plan your trip. The current fare is 1.4€, plus 0.5€ the first time to get the rechargeable ticket.

2) By bus - there are many bus stops in the surroundings and a bus terminal in Campo Grande (5min walking distance). The best strategy is to ask google for the best bus to take from your location. The current bus fare is 1.8€. One can get a waiting estimate from this webpage, but it is uncertain sometimes.

3) By taxi - ask to get to the "Faculdade de Ciencias da Universidade de Lisboa" or "FCUL". Nowadays, there are also apps one can use: TaxiClick or myTaxi. Uber still seems to work in Lisbon too.

4) From the airport

- by car - please follow the map and pay attention to the indications/tips. Note that the on-street parking is charged at rates: 15min (0.25€), 30m (0.4€), 1h (0.8€), 1h30 (1.2€), 2h (1.6€), 2h30 (2€), 3h (2.4€), 3h30 (2.8€), 4h (3.2€).

- by taxi - it takes about 15min (traffic dependent) and it will likely cost about 5 or 6€ (there are extra fees to this if you put luggage in the truck). The taxi should take one of the two routes shown in the map. The best choice to get a taxi at the airport is to take one from in front of the Departures.

- by metro - take the red line and change to the green line in Alameda. Get out in Campo Grande and walk to the venue following the map below. It should take about 40 to 50min. The current fare is 1.4€, plus 0.5€ the first time to get the rechargeable ticket.

- by bus - get on the 783 (direction Amoreiras) and get out at the end of Av. do Brasil. Then walk about 7min to the venue (check google maps ). The current bus fare is 1.8€.

Accommodation

Lisbon hostels have quite a high standard of quality, many with international recognition, so it is worth checking the top-10 list in this link. Many are quite close to metro stations, and the closest hotels are about 15 to 30min walking distance from the venue and one to three metro stations away.

No special deal has been arranged with local hotels, but two hotels close to the university, that we have used for collaborators are:

Hotel 3K Europa (a new hotel a couple of years old)
VIP Inn Berna Hotel

The airBnB apartment/house network is also wide spread in Lisbon.
